I purchased a Gelish mini pro LED curing light and Gelish basix kit(instructional DVD, mini ph bond, mini gel foundation, mini top it off, nourish cuticle oil, cleanser and gel nail remover) from Sally Beauty Supply a few months ago.
For the past year my nails have been extremely brittle, and will peel and split. Now, I love to do my nails. It’s always been somewhat of a therapeutic/de-stressing thing for me. I was feeling so self conscious about my nubbins!
It was a bit of an investment to get started (the light is $69.95, and the starter kit is $49.95, polishes are $14), but I am SO glad I got it! If you don’t know, Sally Beauty has a Club card in which you can save money on every purchase. It’s well worth it! They also have sales and coupons pretty frequently.
The Gelish supplies can be purchased at Sally Beauty in stores, or online. I also have a few of the polishes from Red Carpet Manicure. These I get at ULTA. They are a bit less in price, at 9.99. You can use your ULTA coupons on these, and they go on sale occasionally! One word of advice, open the polish to look at the color before you buy if possible. The bottle colors are SO deceiving, as well as online swatches.
Colors I have from Gelish are – Star Burst, Shake it Till you Samba, Light Elegant and Gossip Girl(Best hot pink ever!!).
Colors I have from Red Carpet Manicure are – My Thank you Speech, Camera Flash, After Party Playful and Leading Lady (my favorite!)
While I don’t find that my manicure lasts 3 weeks like advertised, I am rough on my hands. Besides, I get bored after a week with one color!! When you want to change your color, all you have to do is soak your nails for about 10 minutes in the acetone polish remover. The foil/wrap method that works for removing glitter polishes also works well!
I would love to hear others experiences with at home gel polishes. I would love to see swatches as well! 🙂
