Rainbow Honey’s Zi, from my October mini mystery bag is one of my favorite RH polishes! Rainbow Honey describes Zi as a balanced purple lacquer packed with micro blue, gold, silver and magenta glitters. It’s a gorgeous purple, almost a blurple, which needed only two coats.
What do you think of Zi?
This month Red Carpet Manicure released their Power of the Gem Birthstone collection, with a gel polish to correspond to each stone. I have swatches of Peridot (August) and Opal (October and my birthstone!) to share.
From Red Carpet Mani – Known for their powerful connection to zodiac signs, gemstones have long been revered as a jewel that evokes certain feelings and attributes when worn during its correlating month. Each shade in the collection has been carefully crafted with the finest pearls,
pigments and real genuine crushed gems to reveal brilliant color and shine. Whether you’re partial to your birthstone, or are looking to evoke wisdom or strength, the collection offers these radiant hues:
Garnet (devotion) Capricorn – deep merlot glitter
Amethyst (positivity) Aquarius – dark purple glitter
Aquamarine (courage) Pisces – light blue glitter
Pearl (sincerity) Aries –luminous white pearl
Emerald (harmony) Taurus – dark green glitter
Diamond (truth) Gemini – holographic glitter
Ruby (energy) Cancer – deep red glitter
Peridot (tranquility) Leo – lime green glitter
Sapphire (wisdom) Virgo – dark blue glitter
Opal (confidence) Libra – translucent pearl glitter
Topaz (strength) Scorpio – yellow-gold glitter
Zircon (compassion) Sagittarius – dark turquoise glitter
Peridot is described as a lime green glitter. It definitely has some gold tones to it. Personally, I feel like it is an antiqued greenish gold. Opal is gorgeous, with its milky base and fiery multi colored flecks. Much like a real opal! I have swatched it alone, but I think it will really pop when layered over a dark shade. I plan on trying it over a blackened teal or navy! I can’t wait to try a few more shades from this collection. The Garnet, Diamond, Sapphire and Zircon are calling my name!
Wet n Wild Megalast polish in So Berry On Trend is a satin matte berry shade that is the perfect fall mani color. This collection of “matte” shades from Wet n Wild aren’t what I’d consider true mattes. They have a satiny sheen, even without top coat. The photo above is two coats with no topcoat. It looks quite reflective outside, doesn’t it? The photo below in direct sunlight shows the semi matte finish a bit better.
I really love the formula, which was so smooth and self leveled beautifully. It dried so quickly, and didn’t chip immediately. The polish dries to such a smooth feel, I couldn’t stop running my finger over my nails! I loved the semi matte look. It has almost a waxy finish to it. I have the purple shade but haven’t swatched it yet. There are also cream, taupe, navy and red polishes in addition to the berry and deep purple. I’m still on the hunt for the other polish in this collection, and for the 4 matte lipsticks! Have you tried anything from this Wet n Wild fall collection yet?
I am beyond thrilled with how this jelly sandwich mani turned out! I received the gorgeous Rainbow Honey Salacia in my September monthly mystery bag. I used two coats of Sally Hansen Triple Shine Sea Through from the Palm Beach Jellies. I then applied one coat of RH Salacia, one coat of Sea Through, and repeated that process until I liked the depth of the manicure. I’m going to pick up some more of the Palm Beach Jellies, now that I know they will work beautifully with my ever growing collection of Rainbow Honey glitters! You will have to excuse the chip on my index finger. I snagged it almost immediately after finishing this mani.
I haven’t tried many layering techniques with my glitter polishes yet. Any tips, tricks or favorite polish combos I should try?
Color Club You’re So Vain is from the Seven Deadly Sins Fall collection. This collection of matte, textured glitters is gorgeous, and perfect for fall tips! You’re So Vain is a purple somewhere between eggplant and deep violet. It’s packed with gold and blue green shimmer. I was surprised when I used this polish the first time. It was an impulse buy, and I didn’t realize it was a matte textured polish. I was a little bummed. I’m kind of over textured polish. As you can tell from the pics, I used a top coat over this for maximum shine and to smooth things out a bit. I found the formula a bit thick and gloopy. Probably from all the gorgeous glitter! I used two coats for opaque coverage. I had chips within a day, but that seems to happen to my manis with any textured polish. My nails just don’t hold onto texture I guess!
The sun really shows off the gorgeous sparkle in the bottle! I really like this polish, despite the formula and texture. It’s a stunner! Have you tried anything from Color Club lately? Any fall nail polish favorites?
I couldn’t wait to test out my newest Rainbow Honey nail polish from the September mini mystery bag! The first mani I created was using one coat of Red Carpet Manicure nail lacquer in Strut Your Stuff, a bright cherry red. I used two coats of Rainbow Honey Sugarberries on top. This gorgeous fall hued glitter has deep red, gold and silver holo glitter. It’s so pretty and unlike anything in my collection! I feel like it may look better over a deeper red creme polish. I’m also going to try it over gold and silver. What do you think of this combo?
Rainbow Honey will be launching their next collection on October 1st! Check out the sneak peek of The Yokai below!
I love my Rainbow Honey September mini Mystery bag! Here’s what was included this month:
Sugarberries – gorgeous sugary blend of berry glitters and pigments in a red shimmery base. Use for a glitter topper or layers.
Salacia – A sea goddess, calm and twinkling marine green glitter topper, part of an upcoming collection.
Asteroid – Midnight blue shimmer base, packed with tons of holo silver and gold stars.
Pomme Rouge Body Balm – (new product), formulated with the finest oils, this moisturizing and non sticky balm leaves a long lasting light layer of the Pomme Rouge scent. Perfect for fall, it’s a blend of sweet seasonal red apples and berries.
Pomme Rouge body lotion – enriched with aloe for a light feeling and scent.
Pomme Rouge hand soap – lightly scented, moisturizing heart shape mini soap.
I’m excited to see the rich shades and textures with what I consider to be the first mystery bag of fall! I’ve already tried one polish, Sugarberries, over a red creme and LOVE it. It has large reflective silver glitter that’s just stunning!
Have you jumped on this monthly subscription yet? It’s $12 per month for the mini mystery bag, and it remains my favorite box!
I can’t even tell you how much I love this polish. Pink and glittery?? That’s got my name all over it! Astrolady is from the Celestial line of Sephora’s Formula X nail polishes. I also have Glitter Rocket, and it’s another stunner! While Glitter Rocket only lasted a day before chipping, I got several days from Astrolady. I used OPI Nail Envy, two coats of Astrolady, Red Carpet Mani top coat and Orly Sec’n Dry.
I’m not sure about the fate of the Celestial polishes from Formula X. I checked 4 Sephora stores before I finally found this. There is limited availability online as well. What do you think of this sparkling pink beauty? Have you tried any Formula X polishes?
