Every time you turn around there is a new “must-have” makeup brush. But YOU KNOW it’s actually a must-have when a long-time beauty blogger purchases several of the same brush… one of which has been purchased more than TEN TIMES over! See what brushes Brooke from Blushing Noir holds nearest and dearest in her latest post!
The Holidays are such a fun time for any beauty lover, aren’t they? There are so many amazing kits and holiday specials every year. I have two IT Cosmetics brush sets, which in my opinion are absolute must-haves for anyone that wears makeup. My IT brushes account for 75% of my brush collection, so you could say I’m completely biased. I love IT’s brushes, and have used them for several years. I can tell you with certainty they hold up better than any other brush I’ve used. I’ve only had to toss one brush after 3 years, because it was shedding and must have had some loosening in the ferrule.
This Holiday season, IT has several fun releases. The City Chic 5 piece ultra luxe skin loving brush set and case includes a powder brush, angled blush brush, foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, and a crease brush. The brushes are absolutely gorgeous, with a rose-gold ombre handle and come with a chic rose-gold metallic bag. This set is only available at ULTA, and retails for $68.
The other set literally made me gasp when I opened it. I am a sucker for glitter, whether it’s in my nail polish, eyeshadow, and now… my makeup brushes! This set just makes me happy! The All That Glitters 5 piece must have luxe skin loving brush set and case comes with the brilliant powder brush, radiant foundation brush, stunning eyeshadow brush, luminous concealer brush, and dazzling liner/brow brush. This sparkly set is housed in an equally glittery silver clutch with a magnetized closure. I love this case for my purse or travel!
The silver glitter handles of these brushes aren’t perfectly smooth, but they aren’t rough either. They are a little textured. It’s a different feel for a brush, but not necessarily good or bad – just something to mention. This set retails for $58, and is only available at ULTA.
If you need a new palette with some IT Cosmetics Holiday favorites, I would highly recommend the new Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Perfection palette. I’ll have a closer look at that in a few days, so stay tuned!
I am SO impressed with the Beauty Junkees 8 Piece Pro Eye Makeup Brush Set. I’ve been using this brand for nearly six weeks, and wish I’d known about their makeup brushes sooner! This eight piece set is perfect for beginner makeup lovers or those of us that have a stock pile of brushes already. I promise you will like these as much as, or more, than even your high end brushes. The 8 Piece Pro set retails for just under $40, but currently its on Amazon for $24. The set is a mix of synthetic and natural bristles. Below is information from Beauty Junkees on how to best use each brush.
pro Pencil: Best used for smudging liners or applying shadow along the top and lower lash line, creating a smokey effect. Also great for defining the outer V or the crease.
pro Tapered Blending: Designed for applying and blending a transition color base shadow in to the crease of the eyelid for a soft finish.
pro All Over Shader: The dense rounded bristles are designed to pack shadow over entire eyelid for a smooth and even finish.
pro Precision Eye Liner: Designed for applying a tight line to the upper and lower eye lash lines using liquid, gel, cream or powders.
pro Angled Shading: Best used for applying product to the brown bone. Makes highlighting quick and easy. Also works great to blend color into the crease.
pro Flat Definer: Best used to create a sharp and precise line on the upper or lower lash lines with gel, cream or powder liners.
pro Blending: Created for precision blending powder shadows and buffing harsh lines for a smoother, well blended effect.
pro Crease: Best used to apply shadow in the eyelid crease for a soft diffused effect to the eyes.
The above descriptions are great suggestions, but don’t let that limit your usage of the brushes. I have found the pro Pencil Brush to be absolutely amazing for doing detailed spot concealing. I have acne scars that need extra coverage, and this brush makes the job easy and nearly effortless. One of the most highly recommended brushes for makeup lovers is the MAC 217. I’ve always felt that brush was a bit to scratchy for eyeshadow blending personally. I wanted to mention it since it’s such a staple for so many makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts. The Beauty Junkees pro Blending Brush is identical to the MAC 217, with the exception of the much lower price. Of all my Beauty Junkees brushes, this is the only one that I don’t reach for often (only because I have super sensitive eyelids and it isn’t soft enough for me). I still would recommend it if you love the MAC 217.
The Beauty Junkees brushes are designed to work well with powders, creams, liquids and minerals. They are sturdy, and don’t shed during use or frequent washing. My brushes are holding up well, and I use this to clean them after each use, and once a week use this Sephora Solid Brush Cleanser.

Can you believe it’s almost New Years? I cannot understand how quickly this year has passed. I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite beauty gift sets from the holidays!
Whish is a brand that’s new to me. These cruelty free skin care products come in a variety of scents. I have the Sugar Plum and Vanilla Mint Holiday Sets. Each comes with a body wash, sugar scrub and body butter.
Pacifica is a favorite brand of mine, and is readily available at many health food stores, and now ULTA as well. I’m a sucker for anything coconut. This coconut is THE BEST. To my nose, it has a sugar note that makes it almost edible. The sulfate free body wash is moisturizing, and the body butter is nice and thick. The scent lasts all day on my skin, which is unusual. My skin typically eats scents up.
IT Cosmetics Buki Brush Set is something I didn’t know I needed until I tried it. My favorite brushes are always from IT. This beautifully packaged Buki Brush Box contains a flat top Buffing Buki, Powder Ball Buki, angled Radiance Buki and pointed Complexion Perfection Buki.
The Bite Beauty Lip Love Kit is sold out on Sephora, but you can pick up the items separately. The Agave Lip Mask is my HG lip treatment. The Whipped Cherry scrub has more moisture than scrubby bits, but it works really well! The kit contains two lip wipes, infused with melon fruit extract, that will remove your lip color and refresh your lips. Tawny BB for Lips is described as a dusty pink, which pulls peachy on my lips. This is a sheer wash of color, packed with moisture. I’m LOVING the formula!
Did you get anything beauty related this holiday season that you’re loving? I’d love to hear!

This is my favorite brush set! I’ve come to the conclusion that I just prefer synthetic bristles/cruelty free/vegan makeup brushes over natural hair brushes. My face is very sensitive, and synthetic brushes are so much softer. I’ve actually sold all of my MAC brushes in blog sales!
iFabbo always sends high quality items to review, and they hit the mark with this handy brush set! It comes in a zippered case and includes 6 brushes, tweezers and a mirror. The brushes included are:
- pro powder brush
- tapered blush brush
- deluxe contour brush
- crease blender brush
- chisel shadow brush
- detail liner brush
The bristles are super soft and fluffy, with no shedding. My favorites are the tapered blush brush, which I find to be small and dense, exactly how I like my blush brushes. I love the deluxe contour brush, which is a little like a small kabuki. The crease blender is amazing! It reminds me of a MAC 224, but much softer.
My set is orange, and they also come in purple and white with blue bristles. For more information and to order your own set (or two, because this would be a fab gift!!) please check out the Crown Brush HD set.

EcoTools brushes are by far one of the best cruelty free makeup brush lines around. I have many different brushes from EcoTools, that I use on a regular basis. They are super soft, readily available, they hold up well with washing and they last! Not to mention, they are really affordable!
The newest EcoTools baby in my collection is the Airbrush concealer brush. I saw it reviewed on a friend’s blog and knew I needed to try. I’ve never liked the flat concealer brushes. I prefer something I can blend with, very gently. It can be hard to find the perfect mix of softness, yet dense enough for blending concealer.
This brush meets all my concealing needs! It’s the perfect size for concealing a blemish or under my eyes. It’s not too soft, nor too firm. I’ve even used it in a pinch as a blending brush for my eyeshadow, and it’s great for the crease!
You can find EcoTools brushes at most drugstores, ULTA and here on Amazon: EcoTools Airbrush Concealer Brush
I’d love to hear if you have a favorite EcoTools brush, or any brands that you love! Leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite makeup tool is! 🙂
