If you follow me on Instagram, you know I sometimes post pics of new drugstore beauty items that I think might be of interest to us beauty product lovers. You may have seen that I stumbled on the NEW Revlon Photoready Airbrush Effect foundation at Bed Bath and Beyond. This foundation retails for about $11, and comes in a 1fl oz glass bottle with a pump (yay!). White I am not exactly sure how it differs from the old Photoready formula, it is reformulated.
I tried the old version when it was first out, and it didn’t have enough coverage for me. I also didn’t care for the silver sheen it had. I had high hopes when I first applied this to my skin. Shade 002 Vanilla is the second lightest shade, and a perfect color match. The texture is fairly thin, and needs to be shaken well. It looked best when applied with a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. The coverage was fantastic, and it gave a beautiful not quite matte soft focus finish. I applied another layer to my acne scars and areas that needed more coverage.
It layered beautifully, and I was really pleased with how it was looking. I didn’t set it with powder or use concealer, as I wanted to give it a shot on its own. I had to run my son to work, and grab something at CVS…(OK I was browsing the beauty clearance stuff!) when I noticed my reflection. Maybe it was the indoor lighting, but it looked like I had a sparkly silver mustache. Not a good look on me, despite my love of glitter.
I checked my makeup again in the car and the silver shimmer that I did not see in the foundation when I applied it was embedded in my pores….and I was shining. I was really bummed out at this point. I’d only had the makeup on for about 2 hours. I wore it the entire day just to see how it would hold up. I just kept getting shinier and sparklier (Yes that’s a word in my world!). It was really starting to fade by hour 5. I couldn’t wait to wash my face that night.
I may give it another chance, with a setting powder over it, and maybe try applying it over my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores to see if I can increase the lasting power and reduce the migration of the shimmer. I don’t have high hopes. I usually don’t like anything with this much shimmer, since my pores seem to be getting more noticeable with age.
