I was excited at the opportunity to test and review the Victoria Jackson Cosmetics foundation duo from Brandbacker recently. My first thought, was that it was a fabulous idea to have two shades of foundation in each compact! I’m one of those people that always has to mix foundation shades to get a good match. Sorry, but I just don’t have perfectly uniform skin tone and color. Because…you know, I’m a real woman with real skin issues and not an airbrushed magazine ad! Secondly, how great would it be to be able to do a little highlight and contouring with my foundation?! For those reasons alone, I think this compact is a great little multi tasker!
The shade I chose is light. The foundation on the left side of the compact is quite light, I’d say about N15 or so. The shade on the right is not any darker than N20. I didn’t find that the shades leaned pink or yellow, and they had a nice neutral tone to them.
The foundation feels creamy and smooth. It was easy to apply both using my Real Techniques beauty sponge or a brush. I liked the finish the best with the sponge. The foundation covers well, I would say a medium coverage. I was expecting to have a pretty dewy finish that I would need to set with powder, as the foundation felt so creamy. I was surprised that it set to a powder finish.
I think this would be a great foundation option for someone that doesn’t have dry skin like I do right now. I’m going to stash this away and pull it out when my skin is not so dehydrated from the cold weather! I think it will be perfect for a summer foundation.
