My fellow blogger friends and I are linking up today to bring you The Beauty Council’s favorite products of 2014! Hundreds of products cross my desk for testing throughout the year, some I am able to mention, some don’t get the attention they deserve. I’ve compiled the best of the best in beauty below!
My favorite brushes are from IT Cosmetics. These cruelty free brushes are the best quality, and they will last for years.
Sephora Solid Brush Cleanser makes my most hated beauty chore less awful. This solid bar that comes with a scrubby pad for brush cleaning gets the most grubby brushes clean, faster than traditional washing. I’m never going to be without this gem!
IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream is something I use nearly everyday. It’s got physical only spf, great coverage, skin care benefits and adds moisture. My current dark circle under eye routine is to first use Tarte Colored Clay CC Under Eye corrector topped with Bye Bye Undereye from IT Cosmetics.
My most used makeup item is the Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest After Dark. This disc has the perfect mix of matte and shimmer, in brown, gold and purple tones. The Park Ave Princess matte bronzer works well on lots of skin tones. It also has a highlight, and matte mauve toned blush. I am SO glad I picked up Benefit’s Cheeky Sweet Spot blush palette before it was sold out. I am loving this palette with 5 blushes, Hoola bronzer and mini Watt’s Up. I’m always testing new mascaras, but lately I’ve been reaching for Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant mascara. My favorite moisturizing lip glosses are the Tarte LipSurgence glosses in True Love, Flush and Envy. I’m all over the dusty pink/mauve lip colors this winter. Other lippies I’ve been reaching for a lot include Bite Beauty Luminous Creme lipstick in Fig and Date, LORAC PRO Matte Mauve lip color, and MAC Seeking Adoration Cremesheen Glass.
My favorite subscriptions are the Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery Bag (indie nail polish and body care) and Olfactif niche perfume box. Both are a great value, offer truly unique products that are always a pleasure to receive!
I’m currently having a love affair with everything from the Body Shop, and I especially love their Body Butters. LUSH’s Celebrate hand and body lotion is another moisturizer that’s getting a lot of use. I love the citrus scent, and my skin loves the almond oil and cocoa butter based formula. My favorite hand creams of the year are Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration and 100% Pure Virgin Coconut Hand Buttercream. The new Zotos Professional 180PRO line from Sally Beauty was perhaps the most exciting hair product discovery of the year for me. You need this if you have dry, damaged and/or color treated hair. I love everything from the line, but the Intense Reconstruct Discovery Kit , Rapid Restorer Rinse Out Balm and the Frizz Resister Dry Shine Oil Micro Mist have changed my hair for the better. Another favorite is the Darshana Natural Hair Oil.
A few of my favorite scents from the year are Deja Vu from Signature Fragrances, Mohur from Neela Vermiere, Tom Ford Black Orchid, The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine and Madagascan Vanilla Flower, Clique perfume by Chef Roble, Pure Natural Diva Elixir.
I love everything I’ve tried from Perfect Formula, especially the Pink Gel Coat, Manicure Booster (primer and sealer, I LOVE this as a base coat), and the Daily Moisture. That’s my go-to cuticle oil when I’m working because the jojoba oil based oil is not greasy and sinks right in. I always use Rainbow Honey cuticle butter or oil before bed.
It was really hard to narrow down my favorite skin care products of the year, but here’s a small(ish) selection of my faves!
Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser, and TATCHA One-Step Camellia Cleansing Oil are fantastic at removing even the most stubborn waterproof and smudge proof makeup, without stripping skin. I am really fond of both of these brands! Hada Labo Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a gentle and affordable cleanser choice to follow your oil cleansing with. I love Reviva Labs Glycolic cleanser, toner and moisturizer. These are affordable and effective products for even sensitive, reactive skin. I’m really pleased with the Murad Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Moisture, and the Age Reform products.
Serums are great for treating a variety of skin issues. Here are some favorites of mine. Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion, Pure Truth Vitamin C Youth Activating Oil, TATCHA Radiant serum , Tarte Maracuja Oil and Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment. I also love the Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster, which is a liquid self tanner that you add to your moisturizer. Brilliant!
So, tell me what some of your favorite beauty products were for 2014!
