My skin has gone through some serious changes in the past year. Six months even. I went from having the worst skin of my life, to having the best skin I’ve ever had. It’s not perfect, but for me, it’s close to it!
One thing I’ve had to do is completely change my foundation routine. I can’t use my favorite full coverage CC cream any longer, because it’s too emollient. My dry skin decided to change to super oily about 6 months ago. I’ve tried endless foundations in search of something that was medium coverage that won’t look cakey, won’t clog my pores and cause me to breakout, and won’t melt off my face in an hour. That’s no small task! I’ve found a handful of liquid foundations that I love, and I have to share one of my favorites with you today.
I was sent the new Clinique Superbalanced Silk Makeup at the end of the Summer, so I’ve given it a thorough test in heat and humidity, and also cool Fall days. Once of my first non drugstore foundations as a teen was the original Clinique Superbalanced, so I have had a good experience before. I was excited to test out the new formula.
Clinique says this oil free foundation is meant for oily or dry/combo skin types. My opinion is that it works well on all but very dry skin. It claims that this balances skin, controls oil and hydrates where needed. I wouldn’t disagree. The makeup lasts too. It still looks great after 10-12 hours, which is the longest I go with makeup on. I like the finish without using a setting powder, but I can get away with only blotting once if I set with my oil free Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder. It’s light enough to set the foundation without changing the finish.
Clinique says the Superbalanced Silk is a natural matte finish. I think of it as a radiant matte. That sounds odd, but it’s got a lovely healthy look to it without being glowy. There’s no shimmer or anything in it so I can’t quite figure it out, but I promise you’ll glow. I add some radiance to my skin with my go to highlight these days, the Uplighting Illuminating Powder in Nude Glow. It’s pictured above next to the foundation.
This foundation is a steal at $25, considering it takes very little to get the coverage I’m looking for. Have you tried this? Any other Clinique faves?
