I have lots of fabulous new skin care discoveries this month, and I am excited to share with you my favorites. I’ll start with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, because I’m on my third bottle. It’s the quickest, most gentle and effective way to remove makeup. There is a regular formula, and one for waterproof eye makeup. I love them both. At under $10 a bottle there is no reason not to try this fabulous product. You can find it at Target for $6.99.
I’ve been using the well loved Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna Treatment oil for over a month. I’m a huge fan, and can easily say Good Genes is the most versatile treatment I use. It can be used as a serum after cleansing and toning, morning and/or nightly. You can use a larger amount and massage into the skin, leaving for 20 minutes and rinse off. The treatment can also be combined with the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser and applied as a radiance mask. I haven’t tried the cleanser or this method. Typically I apply Good Genes at bedtime under the Luna Oil. If my skin is looking particularly dull, I have used it in the morning under my makeup with great results. It give me a plump and radiant look, without affecting my foundation routine.
Good Genes is a mixture of lactic acid, licorice, squalene, and the power house probiotic saccharomyces. The Luna Sleeping Oil is a powerful but gentle retinoid organic cold pressed blend with blue tansy, German Chamomile, avocado and chia oils. This unique blend fights fine lines and wrinkles, calms redness, irritation, and plumps and moisturizes skin. This oil is meant to be used at night when skin is most receptive to treatments and active ingredients. I must admit I have used this several times during the day under my makeup, and my skin was calm, happy and hydrated! These treatments are an investment, but a little goes a long way. Sephora offers smaller sizes of Good Genes and Luna in a kit that I would highly recommend, no matter what skin type you have.
My first experience with the Drunk Elephant brand is the C-Firma Day Serum. Everything about this serum is well thought out, from the airless pump that keeps the vitamin c stable, to the addition of pumpkin ferment, ferulic acid, and chronocyclin. I won’t get full on skin care nerd with you, but check out the ingredients. I can’t wait to try more from this brand! So far I’m loving the texture and brightening effect the Day Serum has on my skin. It smells like a vitamin C serum should, and you should beware if your C serum smells like oranges. Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C) doesn’t smell good.
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid is a great non irritating salicylic acid exfoliant. This is great for acne prone skin.
The Yes to Coconut Ultra Hydrating Overnight Eye Balm is a rich and luxurious coconut scented treat. My dry and sensitive eye area loves this, and I’ve been using it morning and night.
The Phytoceane Mattifying Corrective Bi-Gel is an awesome multi tasker, giving skin a bit of moisture while mattifying and fighting acne thanks to the salicylic acid. This is a perfect choice on days when my skin is feeling oily, because it’s a beautiful foundation primer. You can’t beat a good multi tasking skin care product!
The Rapidlash eyelash serum is my go-to when my lashes are feeling brittle or start to fall out. It works with regular use, and doesn’t irritate my eyes.
The Chuckling Goat Break Out Cleanser and Break Out Kefir lotion are a must have if you have adult acne. I thought I’d tried it all, but this is something completely different! These goats milk kefir products are handmade with love on a UK farm, and are free from chemicals, dyes, perfumes, phthalates, parabens or petrochemicals. The brand also has additional products for non acne prone skin types. The Chuckling Goat products are ideal for eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rosacea or acne prone skin types. The products I’ve been using contain raw goats milk, goats milk kefir, tea tree and thyme essential oil, and Finnish oat oil to soothe skin. Both are slightly herbal in scent, and immensely soothing. The Kefir lotion is unlike any acne treatment I’ve tried. My skin feels soothed, and not overly dry and cracked like most acne lotions. It’s effective, and works great under makeup or under night cream. I can’t recommend this line strongly enough. My shipment came in less than a week, and I’m in the US.
I’d love to hear about your new discoveries in beauty! Let me know your faves in the comments below!
