Prestige Total Intensity eye shadows

*pr sample, affiliate link*

In my quest for eye makeup that won’t smudge or melt in the summer heat, I have found a drugstore line that is fabulous! Prestige revamped their Total Intensity line this spring, adding new shades and products. I have two Color Rush eyeshadows, and one Total Wear Shadow Stick to share with you today. The Chase Total Intensity Color Rush eyeshadow is a blue based purple with pink sparkle. Makeup Ur Mind is an antiqued greenish gold. Both are multi dimensional, extremely long wearing, blendable and just beautiful. Not to mention the fact that they are just under $10 for 3.7g of product.

The Total Wear Shadow Sticks are pretty fabulous, either alone or used under shadow, as a primer. I’d consider them comparable to the Urban Decay 24/7 shadow sticks, as far as being long wearing and water proof. They are $9.50 for 0.18oz of product (Urban Decay Shadow Pencils are 0.1oz for $20). The shade I have is Sand Frost, which is a neutral metallic peachy beige. This baby sets quickly and stays on until you take it off!

The Total Intensity eyeliners are just as amazing, and are one of my favorite long wearing pencils. The True Metal eyeshadows also look amazing from swatches that I’ve seen. I’ve also heard great things about the Lip Crayons. Have you tried anything from the Prestige Total Intensity line?

Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette

*pr sample*

Isn’t the Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette a stunner?! This is going to be in heavy rotation in my collection! You know I love my neutrals (all shades of browns, golds), but my favorite color to wear is purple. This will not be one of those palettes that you pull out and just use a couple of colors. I’m in love with every single shade in the Rainforest After Dark palette! What makes it even more convenient is that Park Ave Princess bronzer, Champagne highlighter, and Unleashed matte blush are included.

I love the wood grain look of the casing, and the snake with a purple gem eye!

The shade descriptions from Tarte -

• bare to explore (pink beige)
• make a mauve (plum mauve)
• plum away with me (dark plum)
• up to no gold (gold)
• tan-gled up in you (tan)
• don’t turn a-brown (dark brown)
• unleashed (nude rose blush)
• champagne (highlighter)
• park ave princess™ (bronzer)

As you can see, there’s a nice mix of matte and shimmer shades. All are well pigmented, buttery smooth and blend seamlessly.

What do you think of this palette? Are you going to get it? You can find it at Sephora for $38. Check Tarte out on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube.

pixi proves you CAN wear shimmer at any age!

When we were in Alaska last week, I had the opportunity to do my Mom’s makeup. Any time she agrees to let me experiment I get excited!! She’s a beautiful 60-year-old woman, though she looks much younger. She has amazing Heterochromiatic (different color) eyes. One brown and one green! I was applying her eyeshadow when she asked why I was not using matte shadows. I have done an all matte eye on her, but I love how shadows with a little shimmer make her eyes shine! She mentioned some YouTube videos she’d seen lately that were about doing makeup on mature skin, and how they stated she should use matte shadow, never shimmer. It will settle into lines and creases, make you look old…etc. You get the point. Now, I do not subscribe to the belief that just because you are over a certain age your makeup should be a certain way.

Certainly, some application techniques might not work, or certain colors. I firmly believe if you like how you look, and feel confident and comfortable in your skin, than keep doing what you are doing! I certainly wouldn’t apply a glitter-bomb shadow on my Mom. But pixi’s Fairy Light Solos are the some of the best shadows I’ve ever tapped my shadow brushes in! These silky natural shadows are meant to lift, brighten and enhance the eyes. They are available in 5 holographic shades with 3 undertones.

I have Nude Nouveaux, a beautiful color for all over the lid. This is my go to shade for brightening my face and making me look more awake. I also have Bronze Beam, which is a beautiful bronze that I like to apply to my crease and outer v. It also works fabulously as an eyeliner. I can’t stress enough how easy these shadows are to use. Seriously, they practically blend themselves! They are perfect for those with expert skills, and at the same time someone new to eyeshadow application.

If I have an extra minute or two when doing my makeup, I’ll line my upper waterline and smudge my eyes with pixi’s Endless Silky Eye Pen. I have Bronze Beam which is the perfect pairing with my Fairy Light Solo shadows. These long wearing pencil liners are waterproof, and do not budge once they set. In other words, they are great for hot summer days!

Do you have any favorite products from pixi? Next on my to-try list is ALL of the other Fairy Light Solos and the Copper Peach and Plum Quartz Mesmerizing Mineral palettes. You can see swatches of the Plum palette here: Crazy Beautiful Makeup and My Newest Addiction. I’ve also heard great things about the Brow Duo and Shea Butter Lip Balms.

pixi is available at Target and online. The Fairy Light Solos are $14 each for 2.29g. The Endless Silky Eye Pen is $12.
