China Glaze Gelaze Flying Dragon

ChG Gelaze Flying Dragon

I have mixed feelings about the Gelaze polishes. I have previously tested Flip Flop Fantasy, which is probably my favorite shade ever from China Glaze. What’s different about the Gelaze polish, is that the base/foundation gel is built into the color. You do, however, need to top it off with a gel top coat. One less step/coat sounds appealing. However, I find that I need 1-2 more layers of the Gelaze polish than the standard gels. Not to mention the fact that it’s not as long wearing as your 3 step gel polish process, it doesn’t save me any time.

I still get days more out of Gelaze polish that regular polish, but it’s really not as durable as a 3 step gel. Enough about the formula, what do you think of this color? I love the violet with shimmer and small blue glitter. Gorgeous! I have 4 coats on and it’s still not quite opaque. This purple polish is quite a stinker to photograph!

Summer Gel Polish Manicures

I wear gel nail polish most of the time in the summer. It’s so durable, and this summer it’s really helped me strengthen my nails. I thought I’d share a few of my most recent manis with you! I’d love to hear what polishes you are loving this summer!

Gelish You Glare, I Glow is my favorite bright purple gel nail polish. This is the only purple gel polish that I have that doesn’t fade at least a little. It stays vibrant for 2 weeks, if you actually wear polish for that long! The Summer 2013 collection, All About the Glow, is my favorite Gelish collection to date. I love brights, and every polish in that release is fantastic, color and formula wise. The eyeshadow I’m holding is Prestige Total Intensity Color Rush in “The Chase.” This is a gorgeous blue based purple with micro glitter. I have been using it as eyeliner, just smudged on my upper lash line. These shadows are SUPER long lasting and great for summer!

Red Carpet Manicure Sapphire and Ice was part of the Holiday 2013 duos, and is no longer available. I really love this deep blue shimmer, but the formula is a bit of a pain. There is major shrinkage, and I had to cure my nails two at a time. It also doesn’t have the opaque coverage that I hoped for. Aside from that, it’s really pretty, so I will use it occasionally.

Gelish Gossip Girl was one of my first gel polishes, and it remains one of my all time favorites to this day! This true hot pink creme formula is so easy to work with and smooth. There’s no fading and I’ve had the same bottle for over 2 years.

Red Carpet Mani Sorbet Soiree and Pineapple Premiere

As promised in my last nail post, with Red Carpet Mani’s Ravishing Raspberry, I am back with more from the Summer Collection, Sweet Indulgence. Sorbet Soiree is a teal creme and Pineapple Premiere is a yellow creme. Yellow is the only color I hesitate to wear on my nails, because it doesn’t always look good with my skin tone. It seems to enhance the redness of my hands.

That said, I am really liking this super wearable shade! It’s between a pastel and a neon, and just beautiful! The formula, however, leaves a me a little disgruntled. First of all, my brush bristles were coming out, and some were bent. I’m guessing this was just a fluke because I’ve never had that happen with any of my Red Carpet Mani collection. The polish was really patchy and thin the first coat, the second coat was still a little too thin, the third coat was opaque but a bit too thick and streaky at this point. It wasn’t the worst formula, but I probably wouldn’t want to use it on all my fingers. Using it for nail art or accent nails worked out ok.
