I just received a sample of the newest foundation from Hourglass Cosmetics, the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick. Today is my first day giving it a test, and I wanted to share my first impressions with you. Here’s a little info about the new foundation.

The Hourglass Vanish foundation stick comes in an impressive range of 26 shades, and is a waterproof, long wearing 12 hour formula. Vanish combines the coverage of a concealer, fluidity of a liquid foundation, and weightlessness of powder foundation. The formula is free from parabens, fragrance, gluten, sulfates, nano particles, phthalates, synthetic dyes, GMOs, and as always Hourglass is cruelty free.

The shade I have is Ivory, which is a light-medium shade with a cool undertone. The color is a perfect match with my summer skin shade. It’s got enough yellow that it works well to correct the red tones of my skin. The packaging is a sleek triangle twist up stick. The product itself is quite soft and smooth. It’s extremely pigmented and I only needed a few dabs on my face to get full coverage.

I’ll be honest now, I had some concerns about the stick foundation formula. My skin has been really oily lately, and I was worried this would be too emollient of a formula for my acne prone skin. I usually reach for liquid or powder foundations. I blended the foundation easily with the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Brush, which is a densely packed super soft, angled, PETA approved brush. I love that this brush is dense enough to blend well, but it’s flexible so that it doesn’t just move the foundation around too much. (I’m picky about my blending brushes, can you tell??)

I’m pleasantly surprised by the velvety powder finish of this foundation. It doesn’t look dewy or shiny on me all, but it’s not too flat either. For testing purposes, I have not used a powder or setting spray like I normally would. I want to get an idea of how the foundation holds up alone on oily skin. I felt like the formula covered my redness, acne scars and imperfections very well and I didn’t use an additional concealer.

The Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation stick will be available at Sephora this month for $46 for .25oz of product. The Vanish Foundation Brush is also $46.

    • i really want to try it , especially the brush

    • I can’t believe I still haven’t taken the plunge with Hourglass! Not that I haven’t wanted to, they sound like such quality products.

I’ve never used a stick foundation. I remember a million years ago, my mother used to use a Max Factor stick. I wish it were possible to try out a tester on my face so see the spreadability but it really isn’t so I guess my hand will have to do. Everything from Hourglass is lovely, so I need to check it out

Stick foundations are a hit for me when I need long wear (I don’t use them because I am too dry and I like a sheer finish).

    • Deb Clem-Buckert

That’s awesome that it comes in so many colors. My teen is very fair. I wonder if they have a color that would work for her.

    • I had my doubts about stick foundations as well, but this one sounds really good. Velvety powdery finish is exactly what my oily skin needs.

    • Kristie

This sounds like an amazing foundation. I have been converted to stick foundations ever since Make Up For Ever changed over. Love them.

    • Sounds nice! I’m always a little leery of stick foundations too.

    • Aleya Bamdad

26 shades! That’s amazing. It’s great that it worked so well on you and you didn’t need to apply concealer.I don’t like a lot of product on my face so this sounds like it’s right for me.

    • I’m glad this foundation worked for you because during the Summer, my skin can get pretty oily! I especially love the brush!

    • Lisa Marie Heath

Hourglass is one of my fav brands and I’m definitely picking this up!

    • I’m curious about this foundation but you get such a tiny amount of product, like .25 oz instead of a full 1 oz of product.

    • marciaf

Cool shape to the foundation. Usually stick foundations don’t last long on me so I will be interested in seeing how this holds up on you.

    • I would love to try this. The brush looks lovely, too.

    • FabZilla_Kath

I’m intrigued to try this. I don’t use cream foundations tho so I am curious how this will perform on my skin

    • Ooh, can’t wait to try this! I love the idea of using a stick!

    • I heard good things about this foundation!

    • Kendra Darr

Love the shape of this too! ?
