Have you ever heard of this expression? “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” It’s something that I constantly have to remind myself. I love to be in the giving spirit around the holidays (and all year!) but it’s so important to remember to take care of yourself too! I know when I am stressed to the max, I am not giving my all as a wife, mom, blogger, and friend. Shopping at Costco saves me valuable time and money during the holiday season and beyond. I can stock up on holiday meal supplies, gifts for the kids and husband, and extra household goods for all the holiday visitors! There’s nothing worse than running out of something you need when you have company.
You can find P&G health and beauty items near the pharmacy and healthcare items in Costco.
The ultimate treat for me is to have a spa night at home when I need to unwind. Obviously, beauty is a huge part of my everyday life. Personally I know I look and feel my best when I have some quiet time to unwind from the chaos of the holiday season. Here’s how I’m getting my inner zen back this year.
I love diy natural beauty, and this two ingredient lip scrub couldn’t be easier. For my lip scrub, I mix two tablespoons of softened organic coconut oil with four and a half teaspoons of raw turbinado sugar. It’s easy to customize as well. If you want it to be more exfoliating, add sugar. If you’d like it to be more moisturizing, add more coconut oil or a drop of honey. Store the extra in a small glass jar. This makes a great gift as well!
Having a white smile is important to me, and I love that Costco has a Crest 3D White Strips Combo Pack. The 3D White 1 hour Express Strips remove years of stains in one hour. I save the Glamorous White Strips for maintenance. After I’ve used my exfoliating lip scrub, I put on the White Strips and get into an epsom salt bath. It’s a great way to naturally detoxify your skin, soothe away aches and pains, and diminish stress. I like to read while in the bath, and completely disconnect from electronics, kids and holiday stress! Now is a great time to deep condition your hair, shave your legs, and maybe even do a face mask.
After the stress relieving soak, I have been using Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum. I got a great deal on the 3.4fl oz pump from Costco. (available in the warehouse, not online) Between cold New England weather and having the furnace running constantly, my skin has been lackluster as of late. Olay Regenerist Serum contains niacinamide, a powerful antioxidant that improves elasticity, fades acne scars and pigmentation, and exfoliates to revive skin’s healthy texture and tone. Glycerin and niacinamide help keep moisture in your skin. With the Olay Regenerist Amino Peptide Complex, you will see immediate smoothing of the skin, and a noticeable softening of fine lines in two weeks.
Once I’ve had a bit of quiet time to de-stress and do some self-care, I’m ready to take on the holidays!
