Happy New Year!!
I’m wishing you a happy, healthy 2018, filled with love!
Today is the first day back to school after vacation for my kids. It was -14 this morning. That meant a 2 hour delay, which was probably a good thing. It’s always hard to get back in the swing of things after a holiday, isn’t it?
The harsh below zero temps we’ve been having in New England this year mean dry, cracked skin. Not only from the cold air, but from the heat constantly running and zapping skin of any moisture. There are a few ways that I have found to manage dry skin from getting out of control for myself and my family.
As soon as we start using the heat in the fall, I run the humidifiers. I have one in my room, and a few more around the house. This helps tremendously with dryness.
My daughter and I also have a DIY Organic Oil Sugar Scrub that we love. We combine 1 cup of organic cane sugar, 1/4 cup organic virgin coconut oil, and 10 drops of orange essential oil. You can use any oil that you love, just do a few drops at a time until you have the fragrance that works for you. I love that this scrub leaves a bit of moisture behind once you’ve rinsed it off.
Another tip to keep moisture in your skin is to apply lotion while you’re still wet from a shower or bath. We’ve recently been using Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair. When I compared all the formulas at Walmart, this seemed to be the most moisturizing, thanks to the added shea butter. They have several different formulas, including one for men and one with added spf. I’m sure you can find the perfect Lubriderm moisturizer for your family too!
Do you love winter, or are you ready for warmer weather? If you’ve got any skin saving tips, leave me a comment below.
Be sure to check out the full line up of Lubriderm lotions at Walmart. Right now you can find them on Rollback (ends 2/7) and on select lotions, an instant coupon valid through April 1st! The final price will be $4.97 when you combine the IRC and Rollback savings. Time to stock up while they are on sale.
