Happy Tuesday my fellow beauty lovers! It finally feels like Fall in New England this morning. It was in the 40s last night, though I expect another unseasonably warm week to come. I’m torn between being ready for Fall, and wanting to squeeze the last bit of Summer fun out of my days! I have a few new products to share with you today. It seems I am not keeping up with new releases as well as I used to, so I’m planning on sharing a sneak peek of some new beauty items that perhaps haven’t gotten a full trial yet. If you’ve tried any of these, leave me your thoughts below as I’d love to hear your experiences!
butter LONDON has a new eyeshadow/blush clutch called Glitz & Glamour. If you love cool purple tones, GRAB it! The purple-taupe shade has been my go-to for an easy wash of eyeshadow. The sparkly burgundy shade makes a great smudgy eyeliner. It also comes with a dusty pink matte blush, and On The Glow highlight pen in Moonstone.
Jane Iredale’s new Fall collection includes six shades of Smooth Affair for Eyes cream to powder shadows. These creamy shades can be used alone or used as a shadow primer. I’ve been testing Petal (sheer pink) and Canvas (sheer champagne), and can tell you the creamy formula doesn’t work alone on my lids. I’m going to have to do more experimenting to see how they work layered under a powder shadow. If you are new to eye makeup, and feel intimidated by a palette with many shades, these may be a good option. They are easy to apply and blend with your fingertip.
Touch in Sol Metallist liquid Foil & Glitter Shadow Duo, that’s quite a mouthful for a small double ended tube of glittery goodness, isn’t it?! THIS is my new eye brightening BFF. It’s no secret I love a good shimmery eyeshadow, and if it’s purple? Even better! I have shade #5, Lottie, which has a sparkly purple taupe cream shadow on one end, and loose red-violet glitter on the other end. If I’m being honest, I have mostly been using the purple cream shadow alone. It’s beautiful! If I do want a more bling-y look, I’ll gently pat a little glitter on the center of my lid. It’s a bit messy like all loose glitter, but sticks nicely to the cream shadow once it’s applied. I didn’t get any irritation on my sensitive eyes either. I want to try the other shades out asap.
BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer – I’m thrilled to be testing this concealer, which I will use over my HG Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. This lightweight, water rich concealer contains mica pearls to brighten skin and give a radiant look. With my oily skin, I won’t be using this on blemishes or redness but if you love a good Becca glow it’s going to be perfect. I have tested this on my under eye circles once, and I can tell you I love the light texture and powerful pigment. A light dusting of setting powder is a must for my under eyes to prevent creasing. I like this powder for setting.
Did you hear that Max Factor is back in the US? As a child of the 80s that started her love for makeup at a young age, this has me feeling all kinds of nostalgic! Max Factor was the first makeup brand I ever tried. I’m thrilled to see the brand back in US drugstores. The lipsticks are creamy and pleasant feeling, with an old school lipstick scent. Simply Nude is a pretty pinky nude shade, and Maroon Dust is the perfect Fall deep nude shade. Masterpiece MAX High Volume + Definition mascara has been my go to since I opened it. If you layer your mascaras to get the look of length and volume, give this a try. I haven’t heard if the brand is expanding beyond the current lipsticks, liquid liner, and mascara, but I am hopeful we will see eyeshadows, blush, and foundations from Max Factor eventually!
Clinique is another long time love for me, especially their mascara formulas. They have a new mascara, Lash Power Flutter-to-Full which has a dial tube allowing for a light coat of mascara or full on bold volume. I’m also excited to try out the new smoother High Impact Custom Black Kajal liner. 12 hours of lasting power from my eyeliner is like music to my ears, considering my Fall allergies are in full swing! I’ll have to check back with you on the new Clinique products, as I’ve only swatched them for now.
What new releases are you excited for this Fall? Can you believe it’s already time to start thinking about Holiday Beauty sets?!
